Cant be sure but is it the “sterile ” seed pods ???
You would be quite justified in guessing that, as agapanthus can be very weedy, especially in cooler climates. But no, that’s not the mistake I see. I have to admit it escaped me too until Margery pointed it out! If nobody’s found it by Friday I will reveal all.
