Scientists in Benin have created a database of plants used by traditional healers to treat & prevent malaria, spurred by increasing resistance to antiretroviral drugs & the need to preserve traditional plant knowledge. 82 plants from 43 families have been documented, including many from Rubiaceae & Caesalpiniaceae, although the most commonly used plant is Dichapetalum madagascariense.
