A point to ponder from the launch this week, by Tamie Fraser, of Open Gardens Australia 2012-13 season in Victoria. In a warm & humorous speech, Mrs Fraser related the tale of a woman who had opened her garden one day, when – at the very end – the heavens opened. The last visitors hurried out through the gate, saying goodbye & thanks as the rain fell. One hurriedly put up her umbrella……and out fell a large heap of cuttings…….. The owner didn’t miss a beat. “Oh, you did enjoy my garden, then!” she observed. “But some of those cuttings aren’t very good. Wait a minute – why don’t you let me get you some better ones?” (from Anne Latreille)
