P. Casey (Land reclamation ) Ltd has won the 2012 British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) Grand Award for their scheme Lichfield Parks Restoration Project.
The parks consisted of connected open spaces running from east to west from the Cathedral setting in the heart of the city, each with their own distinct history having developed independently over different periods. The restoration focussed on Minster Pool (13th century), Walk Memorial Garden, The Garden of Remembrance, The Museum Gardens, The Beacon Pool and Play Area and bowls pavilion. The work included hard & soft landscaping to gardens, conservation works to listed features, statues, monuments & fountain display, de-silting of pools, upgrading revetment walls & banking’s, and remodelling of a large play area. The construction of a new bowling green & pavilion, the introduction of other new buildings to the park, and formation of a horticultural education area.

I hate to be picky, but the monument looks as though it’s not level.

I hope you’re not right. Looking at it very closely, I think that it’s the photograph. The horizontals in the monument seem to be parallel to the bin tops and what I can see of fence behind the trees, so I think the whole photo is on a tilt. I’ve reproduced the photo as it was on the BALI site. A good lesson to learn about how important it is to use a good photographer to promote one’s work!
