Luminothérapie in Montreal is one of the world’s premier lighting festivals. Currently on show until 31 January 2016, it features this year’s star attraction of 30 wonderful illuminated see-saws – a real crowd favourite.
Called ‘Impulse’ and designed by and built by Toronto-based firm Lateral Office and Montreal-based CS Design, in collaboration with EGP Group of Montreal, the lighting installation transforms the Place des Festivals into a playful, interactive space for both adults and children.
The 30 see-saws also produce a harmonious sequence of sounds once they are in motion. Combined with the lighting, each see-saw session is unique.
Nine video projections onto surrounding buildings play with the notion of tension, harmony, symmetry and asymmetry.
