Renowned glass artist, Dale Chihuly, returns to the Atlanta Botanical Garden to show his spectacular works of art. The Chihuly in the Garden show includes the massive Sol del Citron made of individual glass curls.

The Chihuly in the Garden show includes 19 installation sites throughout the Gardens, with the glass art pieces floating in pools, suspended in the air, and carefully positioned in the landscape.

One of the highlights is the massive Sol del Citron, featuring more than 1,300 pieces, with each twisted curl of glass sunshine individually wired to a steel inner structure. A crew of four people worked on this one installation, taking them eight hours a day, for five days. It apparently weighs a whopping 2.6 tonne – although it’s difficult to imagine how they weighed it!

Another highlight at the show is the introduction of Chihuly Nights. The Gardens have extended their hours on certain nights so visitors can experience the colours of the glass in different light.
