Cowra, NSW – just hours after a commemorative event for the Aug 5 1944 Cowra Breakout, in which many Japanese POWs & Australians died, over 80 cherry trees on Sakura Ave in the Peace Precinct were destroyed by vandals. How sad, both for those that remember that time, and for those trying to make sure that we never forget.
