I live in Tanzania where hippeastrum puniceum grow freely in the wild. I found around thirty bulbs which had been dug up during farming. Can someone please help me to know how to store the bulbs and then control their flowering. I put a few bulbs in water and they flowered well, then I planted then and foliage has grown…. Should I keep watering or not? The others I put straight in the soil and they flowered and now I have foliage. A few of the bulbs I cut the roots and have stored in a dark place…. But there growing!!
Two years ago I planted around twenty bulbs in my garden, and they have spread profusely and I have foliage all year…. But very few flowers compared to those in the wild. Is it because they are watered, and therefore are not able to go dormant.
Please advise me of how best to care for them, and to get maximum flowers d
