The Kennedy Center in Washington DC, will have a new Kennedy memorial garden area in its planned $125m makeover, to make it more of a daytime destination. Architect Steven Holl says “The idea really is that the landscape is activated, a fusion of architecture and landscape features”, which could include 46 gingko trees for his lifespan, 35 lavender rows for the 35th president & a reflecting pool the exact length of the PT-109 boat that Lt. John Kennedy commanded during WW II with an adjacent deck made from the same mahogany wood as the boat.
