Volunteer with Sydney Living Museums

Sydney Living Museums (formally the Historic Houses Trust) is looking for volunteer gardeners for 2 magnificent heritage properties – Rouse Hill House and Farm, and Vaucluse House.

A volunteer group will work at each property on a variety of tasks and projects and will contribute to ongoing garden fabric conservation practices. Garden volunteers will play an invaluable role in preserving and protecting our garden heritage and in enhancing the experience for visitors to the two heritage properties. Volunteers at Sydney Living Museums are entitled to a host of exciting benefits including free entry to all SLM properties and invitations to volunteer social outings.

Project Volunteer – Gardening – Rouse Hill House & Farm
Volunteer role location: Rouse Hill House & Farm, 356 Annangrove Road, Rouse Hill
Application deadline: 9am on Monday 22nd July, 2013
Role Summary: This Project Volunteer role serves to provide support to the Gardens Unit at Rouse Hill House & Farm. Volunteer Gardeners work in a group to undertake garden maintenance and project work which enhances the experience of the garden for SLM visitors. Volunteer Gardeners at Rouse Hill House & Farm will devote their time initially to garden fabric restoration work and contribute to ongoing garden fabric conservation practices. Project Volunteer – Gardening – Vaucluse House
Volunteer role location: Vaucluse House, Wentworth Road, Vaucluse, Sydney
Application deadline: 9am on Monday 22nd July, 2013
Role Summary: This Project Volunteer role serves to provide support to the Gardens Unit at Vaucluse House. Volunteer Gardeners work in a group to undertake garden maintenance and project work which enhances the experience of the garden for Sydney Living Museums (SLM) visitors. Project Volunteer Gardeners at Vaucluse House will devote their time to maintaining and developing the kitchen garden as well as contribute to ongoing garden maintenance such as seed raising and sowing, watering, harvesting, composting, soil preparation and weeding.
