Tanzania is home to many of the most amazing plants and animals. This gallery features some of the trees, often with animals included because they are special and, well, I just couldn’t leave them out!
The African Baobabs are spectacular in their shape, size and sheer wow-factor, as are the Candelabra Euphorbias – they were both really impressive at Tarangire National Park. In other areas (Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Lake Manyara National Park) Acacia is the most dominant tree species. Most notable is the Umbrella Thorn, although other acacias (under re-classification) are widespread in both tree and shrub form.
I have added captions for some explanation of what is difficult to capture on ‘film’!

Thanks, Catherine, for fixing the site so that I could see and truly enjoy these photos. Thanks to the photographer, I loved every one and it was interesting and surprising to see the diversity of the Tanzanian flora.
I’m glad you enjoyed them Phileppa, the diversity was really interesting. It’s an incredible place, and nature is always full of surprises!
