Glass Lantern Slide Children outside doing a Science Experiment Burnley Collection

Calling all Burnley graduates! The 150th anniversary of the Gardens at Burnley is on November 23 with champagne, food, and a Glass Lantern Show featuring slides of Burnley.

Years ago, during a clean-up, many of the glass slides were thrown onto the rubbish heap. They were salvaged by a former student who has now donated them to the Burnley Archives.

The Glass Lantern show will be led by Professor Ian Edwards (lanternist) who is bringing his projection equipment for the evening.

The FOBG History group – Jane Wilson, Michèle Adler, Jean Corbett & Sandi Pullman will also be contributing, using old slides from the collection and more modern technology.

We’ll have a laugh and a look at how Burnley used to be in times past. You can come for dinner and the show (including pre-dinner drinks and a stroll), or alternately just come for the show and dessert.
