A Protea growing Proteas? After a superb 18 year career, star South African cricket all-rounder Jacques Kallis has announced his retirement – to take up flower growing.
Kallis says that after 18 years as a Protea, that he’s learned “a thing or two about flowers” and will grow proteas on a flower farm near Stellenbosch.
His retirement from cricket is prompted by a belief that he is no longer playing his best but this is not supported by his sister Janine, who says:
“I think he should keep playing. He’ll spend his days walking through the house playing shadow shots or phantom bowling and drive me bonkers. And trust me, you know he can drive. I’ll end up feeling like a Bangladeshi bowler.”
