The Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne has released plans for its show garden designed by Jim Fogarty, to be built at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show in July.
Called ‘Essence of Australia’, the garden will highlight Australian flora and indigenous culture, although all the material for the garden is being sourced in the UK, even including iconic the red sand.
A timber clad structure references the rock formations of the Northern Territory but is also symbolic of contemporary urban design. The garden features a strong colour palette of red, charcoal and natural timber and will include 1,453 Australian native plants, which will be donated to Kew Gardens after the show.
