Artisans in the Gardens at Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney has become a go-to event for discovering artistic talent and finding works with a garden-focus. Among a who’s who of more than 50 Australian artisans, the 2014 show will feature beautiful ceramics by Katherine Mahoney.
Her exquisite pieces are inspired by the beautiful native seedpods and leaves that abound in Australia, and use a range of textured pods and leaves she collected from several botanic gardens. After impressing them into soft clay and highlighting them with natural oxide, Katherine then mixes glazes that reflect the soft palette of water-colourists.
Katherine Mahoney will show a range of pieces at Artisans in the Gardens, including large bowls, platters and vases.
Artisans in the Gardens: Lion Gate Lodge, Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney. 11-19 October 2014, daily 10am-4pm. Free entry; all works for sale.
