The Sydney Royal Botanic GardenĀ and Domain has released a report of the community consultation and feedback to its new Master Plan proposals. 35.5% were either excited or satisfied with the proposals, while 58% were concerned.
The top three supported recommendations included: pathways and wayfinding; the new science and education facility; and the
landscape and botanical framework. The three least supported proposals were: new entry experiences; a new QEII Gate Garden Orientation Centre; and the Victoria Lodge adaptive reuse.
Of the comments received, the largest group expressed concern at the loss of public open space and perceived commercialisation of the RBG.
The ‘Have Your Say’ feedback from 685 participants plus responses from stakeholder groups has been collated and analysed by Elton Consulting and some key recommendations made for ongoing consultation with community, sporting, resident and stakeholder groups.
