GardenDrumSee Sophie Thomson’s fabulous garden

See Sophie Thomson’s iconic arid-land Hamlyn Cottage Garden in the Adelaide Hills over the Easter break, Saturday 4 April – Tuesday 7 April 2015.

ST-crouching-in-garden-John-Hemmings-resizedSophie has transformed this former cow paddock around an historic 1847 stone cottage into a magnificent sustainable garden, planted with thousands of fruit trees, vegetable and perennials.

Learn about her dryland irrigation techniques, and explore the delicious edible garden. Kids will love the many free-ranging ducks, geese and chooks and the secret places to explore.

Each day has 4 guest speakers, talking about different aspects of sustainable gardening, such as gardening for butterflies, native bees and beneficial bugs. PLUS there will be plants for sale from local nurseries, hands-on craft activities, morning and afternoon teas for sale and yummy wood-fired pizzas.

Entry to the carpark > 394 Springs Rd, Mt Barker Springs (Follow signs from the town) – Gates open at 10am each day until 4.30pm and entry costs only $10 for adults with under 18 free.

For more information on the open garden and to see the full program of garden speakers visit Sophie’s Patch
