The Eurasian Prize for Landscape Design has been awarded to “Искусство пейзажа” (Art of Landscape Studio) for their work at Village Garden, Chernousovo, near Ekaterinburg in the Central Urals.
Covering 3,000m² in a long, narrow block, the garden has evolved through a five year collaboration between the owner and the landscape designer. Several separate garden rooms have been developed, such as pond area, gazebo, a sickle-shaped ornamental garden and a meadow lawn, all linked by a winding, granite-paved path.
Plants were chosen for their hardiness to the area’s frequent frosts and also to make it a garden for all seasons, with colourful foliage and flowers. Many ornamental trees and shrubs were added to the existing tree plantings, as well as easy-care perennials and grasses such as Poa, Plantago, Potentilla and Achillea, as well as many local species.
The Eurasian Prize is organised each year by LeTabature magazine, and attracts hundreds of entries from around Russia and also international participants. Awards are given for architecture, industrial design, interior design, landscape design and education.
