Calling Melbourne garden lovers! Melbourne Royal Botanic Gardens is looking for 60 volunteers for a wide range of activities at the Gardens, including Volunteer Guides, Children’s Garden Volunteers, and Garden Ambassadors.
This a rare opportunity that comes up only every few years, so if you’d love to be a part of the fantastic team and the important work at RBG Melbourne, here’s your chance.
The Gardens are looking for people with a wide range of skills, from passionate plants-people, to bilingual ambassadors, history and conservation enthusiasts…and, of course, a desire to bring the Garden’s collections and message to its hundreds of thousands of yearly visitors.
Volunteer Guides conduct daily Garden Discovery Tours providing visitors with valuable insights into plant collections, history, landscaping and conservation. Likewise, Garden Ambassadors are based at the mobile Information Pod and engage with visitors on an incidental basis handing out maps, pointing people in the right direction, suggesting tours, and sharing information about what’s in season and the history of the site.
Applications close on 30 October 2015, and successful applicants will have a 12 week training course and then start their duties on 2 March 2016. If you’re interested come along to a Gardens Volunteers information session during October.
