UNREAL FRUIT! Gaby Porter, one of Australia’s best known sculptors, is holding an exhibition 17-19 October 2015 at her Wombarra Sculpture Garden (an easy 1 hour drive south of Sydney) with works inspired by the wonderful shapes of fruit and vegetables.
Fruit, seeds and their pods are inspiring shapes and we all relate to them every day. Pumpkins, onions, pears, they make us smile, but these particular specimens are a little unreal, and a lot larger than life.
This is combined with Gaby’s love of sculpture in the garden. Gardens are becoming more important in our lives, providing us with a much needed connection to nature and all gardens are enhanced by having a focal point, something to draw the eye, and sculpture has always made a strong impact. These original ceramic tiled sculptures provide that with their colour and form.
The exhibition is set in the beautiful coastal Wombarra Sculpture Garden, just over one hour drive south of Sydney, and 25 minutes north of Wollongong.
