Sophie Thomson, celebrity gardener, opens her famous ‘Sophie’s Patch’ arid-country garden only 30 minutes drive south-east of Adelaide in early November. Don’t miss it!
‘Sophie’s Patch’ at Mt Barker Springs has been created by Gardening Australia TV gardener Sophie Thomson in the old cow paddock that surrounded her 1847 stone heritage-listed country cottage.
See her orchard packed with fruit and nut trees, free range geese, ducks and chooks, large vegetable garden and arid-country sustainable planting and clever irrigation systems.
Local nurseries will be selling plants, there are four guest speakers each day, plus delicious teas – and Sophie herself to explain her sustainable gardening style.
Open days are 7, 8 and 9 November 2015, 10am – 4.30pm. $10 entry fee for adults and children under 18 free.
Entry to the carpark is off 394 Springs Rd, Mt Barker Springs (follow signs from the town). Parking in the adjacent paddock will be managed by Mt Barker Rotary Club to support their fundraising for Operation Flinders. And please wear sensible shoes!

30 minutes west of Adelaide? Either my geography is out or that would put you underwater.
