Dr Lucy Sutherland is the new Director of Adelaide Botanic Gardens, bringing with her a wealth of experience in plant conservation, educational and botanical gardens.
Dr Sutherland will have responsibility for Adelaide Botanic Garden, Mount Lofty Botanic Garden and Wittunga Botanic Garden.
She is currently National Co-ordinator of the Australian Seed Bank Partnership, which brings together 12 different government and non-government agencies working to protect Australia’s plant diversity. She also teaches internationally in the field of eco-tourism and has been been Acting Director at the Australian National Botanic Gardens in Canberra.
Dr Sutherland says she plans to focus on keeping the Gardens relevant to the communities that use them as well as strengthening ties to research organisations.
