Kew has announced a new autumn festival showcasing the beauty of the season with 16 sculptural works to be dotted throughout its arboretum.
This year Kew will celebrate the inspiration that only autumn can bing with a new exhibition of diverse organic sculpture headlining its new autumn festival.
Four artists will create the works, ranging from wavy wooden seating installations by Nigel Ross, through to expansive and immersive works by the celebrated artist, Rebecca Louise Law.
Law’s work takes inspiration from the preserved funeral garlands of Ramesses II in Kew’s collection, which date from 1300 BCE. The work will be made up of 375 000 individually preserved flowers, hand-sown into 1000 garlands that will be suspended from above, allowing visitors to weave their way through for a truly unique experience.
The festival will run from 7 – 29 October 2017. Visit the Kew website for more details.
