Nanette Cuming first career as a nurse both at home and abroad was followed by raising four children which kept her fully occupied for next 10 years. During this time she developed an interest in horticulture and attended night classes at Burnley Horticulture College. A passionate interest in Australian plants led to a specialist native plant nursery in Melbourne, then 10 years later Nanette set up an Australian native cut flower farm on 12 acres on the Mornington Peninsula, selling mainly to overseas markets. After 10 years this gave way to local community work and the birth of the Crib Point Community Garden in 2006.
